Exciting times ahead...

I’m working on a few really exciting events and I can’t wait to tell you all about them.

Firstly and most exciting, I had a really good meeting with Luke Roberts from Lifelines last Friday.

Lifelines is a collective of poets, writers, musicians and performers based in London. In their free time, they organise fundraising gigs for good causes, to raise awareness and funds for the most disadvantaged people in the world.  Each event has a specific link, showcasing the culture of the  country they have chosen for their event. Their most recent event was for ‘Link Ethiopia,’ a charity that supports education in Ethiopia. The evening was headlined by the amazing Lemn Sissay MBE and was a big success. They are very well connected and do know how to throw a great party! Their next event will be for another African charity, raising money to clean up the Niger delta oil spill.

Luke, who feels very passionately about the Palestinian cause, is very keen on organising an event on Palestine. So Lifelines have decided that their first 2012 event will be celebrating the Palestinian culture and will be in the aid of SJEH. We are so lucky for their support!  This event will take place on Thursday 29th March 2011 at the Phoenix Artist Club in Tottenham Court Road so save the date. We’ll make sure our guests have an amazing night in the company of a host of Palestinian artists, musicians and novelists. This isn't an event you can miss! I can easily say that this is the funkiest event I will have ever organised…

Anyway, you don’t have to wait till next year for a SJEH event as we have 2 very great events in store for you this November.

The first event is our Annual Gift of Sight Fair taking place on the 2nd and 3rd November. If you’re free and want to buy lovely scarves and hats and pretty dresses and frocks, and gorgeous jewellery, do come along to our Gift of Sight Fair. You’ll have a fantastic time, you’ll buy some lovely things AND at the same time you’ll be aiding in our sight-saving activities in Palestine.  Christmas shopping, already??  I say why not! Spread your festive spending and you’ll be thankful come end of December and you’re not completely skint. Also, who wants to spend the days running up to Christmas, stuck with a million other late shoppers on Oxford Street? This has just brought back so many aweful memories. Oxford Street, on Christmas Eve. DO NOT, do not do it!

Moving on, our second November event- a Friday Night Fundraiser with City Circle, is on the other hand, completely non-Christmasy.City Circle is an independent and inclusive forum that organizes weekly events on hot topics irking British Muslims.  For Friday 18th November, they have chosen us as their charitable case study. Nicky, my boss, who is an amazing public speaker and very passionate about the health care of Palestinians, will be giving a brief talk followed by a Q and A session. All funds raised will be going into our Patient Relief Fund. So, again if you are in London on that Friday night please do come along. Entrance is free and everyone is welcome to come along. So do come, and bring your family and friends.

Enough from me I think. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me as usual.

In peace,

Feryal
