The Order of St John Ladies' Guild was formed in 1928 by Queen Mary, its aim to work in support of the charitable endeavours of the Eye Hospital in Jerusalem.
Known now as the Guild, this superb group of female and male volunteers, tirelessly and joyously, devises and runs fundraising events to support the work we do across the Palestinian Territories. We are further indebted to the Guild for their continuing financial support of the post of Matron at the Jerusalem Hospital.
Ambitiously, and in response to our current urgent financial need, the Guild has decided to run five very different events for the Hospital Group in 2009. All funds raised from these events will go towards this year’s Staff Sponsorship Appeal.
In 2009, the Guild will generate vital income from a Bridge Afternoon and a Fashion Show, as well as the annual Gift of Sight Fair, which will be held in early October. They will also be reaching out to all their numerous contacts, calling for them to sponsor the London office's Nicky Wynne and Alex Burrough when they run the London Marathon on 26th April.
Finally, never daunted by a challenge, the Guild has decided to hold a very special celebratory concert in the sumptuous Cadogan Hall in London on Wednesday evening, 16th September. They have secured the fantastic 100 voice, London Welsh Choir for this event and are currently negotiating the performance of a well known artist as guest star!
The Hall seats 900 people and we hope, with your help, to fill the Hall to its full capacity. Ticket prices will vary, depending on location. For those who are able to put their hands a little deeper into their pockets, there will also be a limited number of prime seat tickets available that will include in the price a very special Champagne VIP Reception.
For any initial inquiries please contact Nicky Wynne on 020 7553 6969 or email nicky [dot] wynne [at] stjohneyehospital [dot] org. Nicky will then direct your inquiry to The Guild.
