The Knights Templar and Staff Sponsorship

In addition to the special Anabta project, the Knights Templar continue to raise over £100,000 in vital funding for staff sponsorship every year. 

Without our strong team of professionals and dedicated staff we would not be able to ensure that the best possible care is given to those who need it most.  Staff costs are 60% of our overall charity expenditure, £4.5m in 2011.

The Knights Templar currently sponsors Head Orthoptist, Judith Musallam.  Judith manages and monitors all of the St John Eye Hospital Group Orthoptic services in the Main Hospital and Satellite Clinics.  She is employed 25 hours per week as a Clinical Orthoptic and Visual Field Technician.  Judith also oversees the work of the Orthoptic Assistants and is responsible for teaching Orthoptic to the Nursing School students. 

At the Jerusalem Reception in June, the group of Knights Templar had the opportunity to sit with Judith and learn more about the important work she and her colleagues carry out, improving the sight and lives of many thousands of children in the region.

Staff sponsorship is one of the most effective means, if not the most effective method, to support the work of our charity.  In 2010 our dedicated team of medical staff cared for more than 102,000 patients, who attended the various outpatient clinics (East Jerusalem, Anabta, Hebron and Gaza).  On the wards more than 4,000 surgical and medical patients received pre and post-surgical care.

In an area where employment is by no means guaranteed, long-term sponsorship makes a difference to the lives and morale, not only of our staff, but also of their extended families.

Once again, our heartfelt thanks go out to each member of the Knights Templar.  The continuing support given to our charity means a very great deal to us.  We hope more friends from this important body will be able to visit our charity and witness for themselves the vital impact of their generous donations.
