in the fight against avoidable blindness.
There can be little doubt that all of the St John Eye Hospital Group staff are integral to the successful execution of the charitable aims that we are all working towards. They are at the forefront, working hard to help those less fortunate than many of us. During the recent conflict in Gaza, they were also on the frontline.
For stretches lasting days at a time, nothing was heard from our staff in Gaza and no-one knew whether our clinic there was still standing. When we did hear of them, they were helping to dig graves and bury relatives and friends. Some did, indeed, have their homes destroyed.
What follows is a short report on the Gaza conflict, written by Dr. Jom’a El Jazzar, Chief Surgeon at the Gaza Clinic.
This year, we intend to focus on our staff right across our services. They work in a region beset with problems that we can only sit back and watch unfold on the 6 O’clock News. By supporting out staff, you can act; you can show our teams on the frontline that you care and that you are thinking of them.
If you would like to act now to support our General Staff Fund, you can do so by filling in the donation form at the back of this edition or by logging onto the website at www.stjohneyehospital.org. Any amount, no matter how great or small, is welcome.
