Following some months of providing a limited Viteroretinal (VR) service, we are extremely pleased to welcome Consultant VR Surgeon, Dr Kathrin Greiner to St John.
VR surgery comprises the diagnosis and treatment of retinal disease (in the innermost part of the eye), for example diabetic retinopathy. As many of our patients suffer from these eye diseases, it is an essential part of the comprehensive service that we provide.
Kathrin received her training in medical and surgical retina in the UK, gaining a PhD from the University of Aberdeen. This she achieved having worked as a VR Surgeon in Germany. She is looking forward to the challenge of working within such a culturally diverse environment, with our highly motivated and well trained staff. In her limited spare time, she is hoping to learn Arabic so that she can communicate directly with her patients.
Rod Bull, Chief Executive said: "We are delighted to welcome Kathrin to the St John team. She has an excellent track record and brings a wealth of experience that will benefit our many patients in need of Vitreo-Retinal Services"
